After several months of busying myself at school, at last, I was able to post at this blog again. Hmm..lots of events have I experienced which I thought developed me and made me a more mature individual able to handle pressures in this world.
The last semester I got really active in an event that we organized. It was in line with our Cultural Tourism course where we organized an International Conference (well the first international conference in our college) in which we invited several speakers from different parts of the globe. The preparations of the International Conference comprised of the following:
- two senior sections (our section 4T2 and the other 4T1 only handled this since the three other sections were in their OJT) were divided into several groups with 5 members - each group, with their co-author professors were to make a paper about a topic of their choice which would be related to the theme "Celebrating 400 Years of Cultural Heritage: People, Places, and Performances". Our group (who decided to not have a co-author) chose the place Baler (which I shared in my previous blog post).
- Each paper made by the groups were graded and those works which the professor thought a "great" work would be published in the journal "Journal of Cultural Tourism"
Anyway, lots of blessings, I might say, happened during the preparation and I'm glad to be a part of this event. I was one of the organizers of this conference. I became one of the Editorial Staff of the journal where I (with someone's help) made the cover of the journal. I was also the one who made the certificates of almost 400 people who participated, organized, and cooperated in the event. I would never forget the time I was doing the certificates..lots of revisions where I was left at four in the morning still trying to perfect the task. And, another blessing, our group's paper "Baler: A Timeless Beauty in the North" was chosen as the best paper of our instructor. As a result of all my hardship, I was given an incentive by our instructor which I really was thankful for. I ran out of words whenever I share this experience. I was just glad to have been a part of this event because God showed me He really worked during this time when I was stressed out and frustrated. While organizing this event, I also had on the other side, our thesis, where I was chosen to be the leader. This entailed another responsibility.
Anyhow, after the last semester's tasks came my practicum/on-the-job training. I got frustrated at first on which airline company I'd be working at given the time when there was a delay of notices on when I was going to be interviewed. Then came the blessing that I was accepted at Qantas Airways. I started my duty November 2010 and now, I am nearing my last day of duty. I enjoyed the training very much. It's as if I was already employed as a Passenger Service Agent also. I learned a lot of things and discovered that I could really interact with people of different cultures.
This one blog post is not enough for sharing my joyful and extraordinary experiences. Probably, I could also post my daily journal during my practicum, too. That one's a requirement by our instructor. In there, my daily experiences could be viewed. hehe.
I just missed posting here and I hope I would be able to update this again.
